OVERVIEW
Argo is a dual-interface iPad system designed for cruise ship operations and onboard guest experience, unifying complex maritime logistics with premium hospitality interactions.
CHALLENGE
Cruise ship systems operate at two very different speeds. Behind the scenes, crews rely on dense operational tools to monitor occupancy, logistics, weather conditions, and passenger movement across multiple decks. In parallel, guests expect seamless, intuitive interactions that feel effortless and refined. Designing Argo meant addressing both layers without allowing one to compromise the other.
The complexity was not only functional but structural. Eight decks, varied room categories, real-time status updates, and service coordination required a clear spatial and informational logic. The challenge was to organize this density into interfaces that support fast operational decisions while preserving the clarity and comfort expected in a premium hospitality environment.
PROCESS
Structured two systems – one for cruise operations and one for guest experience – organizing navigation based on task urgency, frequency, and decision-making hierarchy.
Developed a comprehensive style guide covering typography, iconography, and a color palette that combines brand tones with system and status colors.
Transformed complex operational requirements into structured dashboards, real-time status views, filtering systems, and cabin control screens optimized for clarity and efficiency.
Simulated check-in processes, guest management, room status filtering, live ship tracking, and cabin controls to demonstrate how key functionalities would behave in real scenarios.
SOLUTION
Argo Bridge consolidates cruise operations into a centralized control interface. The dashboard provides a weekly agenda overview, total occupancy rates, live weather alerts, and service request monitoring. Dedicated flows for check-in, guest management, and room status allow crew members to filter by deck, availability, and passenger data, ensuring operational transparency across all eight decks.
Argo Suite translates that same infrastructure into a refined in-cabin experience. Guests can manage lighting, temperature, media, and room requests, while also booking restaurants, spas, and onboard activities. A live location screen mirrors the operational system, reinforcing continuity between management and passenger experience.
IMPACT
As a conceptual system, Argo explored how operational infrastructure and guest experience can be designed as interdependent layers rather than isolated products. By structuring both interfaces around shared spatial logic and visual language, the project demonstrates how clarity at the system level directly influences efficiency, coordination, and perceived quality onboard.
It also reinforced the role of product design in high-complexity environments. The system applies structured architecture, real-time data visualization, and task-focused workflows to improve clarity and operational oversight.
